Fragrances used in scented candles
- Most scented candles contain a combination of natural and synthetic
fragrances. An estimated 500 to 800 aroma chemicals and essential oils
are compatible with the chemistry of candle combustion. When scented
candles burn, the heated wax releases fragrance into the air.
Historically, the use of scent in candles began with beeswax and bayberry,
which are naturally scented.
